Year 6 put on a very informative assembly all about the history of tea. This ties in with our general China topic. Our research has led us to look at Chinese traditions, such as the history of tea.
Our assembly went back 5,000 years to show how tea was first discovered. A couple of students acted out a scene involving dry leaves falling into some hot water.
We also looked at some of the tea drinking traditions in other countries. These included India, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Vietnam and Russia.
Our assembly explained a little more about fair trade. We also introduced the phrase: not for all the tea in China!
This was a fantastic assembly for the Year 6 students. They were asked at short notice to put together the presentation. All pupils had a speaking and acting part.
