Dear parents, after a very challenging year we are sad to say Goodbye to our Nursery Children. We hope you have a lovely summer.

During the Summer:

  • Please continue reading every day to your child every day.


  • We know that if your child is physically fit and active they will continue to develop in all areas of learning. Continue to exercise every day!

    All About Me poster

    We would like you to make a poster about your family and about your child; their favourite things, pets, favourite song , toys and the things they are interested in.

    Bring your poster to school into school the week beginning 7th of September to share with your new class.

    We can’t wait for all our children to be back at school in our Faraday Family.

    Read the story and follow the amazing Ladybird in her next adventure. Talk about the things that happen in the story.

    Tuesday: What the Ladybird Heard Next Story Puppets

    Make puppets for the main characters (the ladybird, the hen, the duck, the goose and Hugh and Len) and retell the story for someone in your family.

    Wednesday: What the Ladybird Heard Next Drawing animals

    Look carefully at each picture with your child and talk about them first.

    Draw an animal and talk about the things they do, the noises they make!

    Thursday: What the Ladybird Heard Next Animal Homes

    Talk about where each animal lives, e.g. the cow lives in a shed, the duck lives in the pond.

    Friday: Sing ‘Old Macdonald Had a Farm’.

    Include all the animals from this week’s story.
    Monday: BIG AND SMALL - TOY SORT

    Sort your toys to size.

    Put all small toys together and all the big toys together​.

    Tuesday: Numicon stairway Counting to ten.

    Mixed up Numbers! Look at the Counting Numicon video - can you put all the Numicon number tiles in the correct order starting with 1? So you can put the number tiles down like this-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10.

    Wednesday:

    Numicon Stairs

    Pile up all the Numicon tiles starting with One.

    Count up and down with your fingers on the tiles as you count.

    Thursday:

    Numicon Snap Game

    Share the Numicon tiles out so there are two piles.

    Put each tile out on top of a table and take it in turns to put another tile on the pile until there is the same number.

    Friday:

    Counting to ten Counting.

    Sing counting songs and rhymes such as Ten Fat Sausages sizzling in the pan... and count it out on your fingers.
    Every September, children share their All About Me Poster with their new class.

    You can add things like a baby photo, or photo of their family and drawings of some favourite things!

    Please keep the poster in a safe place and bring it in with you when you come to school in September!
    This will be the last music video before the summer holidays! I have compiled many of the songs that we have learnt throughout lockdown. I can't wait to see you all again in September!

    Over the next two weeks, we have fun family challenges for everyone to try. The idea is to try as many challenges as possible! This will be in addition to the Phonics, Literacy and Maths home learning activities provided on the school website.

    So many squares hiding in the castle can you count them all?Draw a big square; hide a small square inside it!How many squares can you draw altogether-try squashing as many as you can in your big square.

    So many circles, can you count them really quickly? What do you think the circle shape picture could be?

    Thursday:

    What sized rectangles can you see and what is the picture of?

    Friday:

    Look at lots of different shapes; take photos of different shapes in your home, a clock, a light switch, the television...
    Try as many challenges as you can, there are lots to choose from!

    Snack times

    We talk about lots of different things during Snack Time. Sometimes talk is based on the foods we are eating, about how we can share so that everyone has the same and what to do if there are foods left over, (cut fruit in half, find some more fruit, etc.). The fruit/foods listed on the daily activities are only a suggestion -you can use whatever you have at home.

    Online Safety at Home

    It’s vital for you to know that your child is safe and there is lots of advice for parents to help protect their children when using the internet.

    This week, there is a new song to learn, The Funny Tummy Song; it helps young children to know what to do if they are worried about anything which has upset them when using the internet.

    Friday: Play a sound game on Espresso, look at the picture and choose the correct sound to match it.
    Monday: Share a snack, find two plates, put one biscuit on each plate, then two strawberries on each plate, next, put three raisins on each plate. Check that each plate has the same number of snacks before you eat them! Who will you share your snacks with?

    Tuesday: Find an apple, banana, or grape-or any fruit you have at home. Draw around your snacks. What shapes can you see? Does the apple and banana have the same shape? Which is the biggest shape?

    Wednesday: Make a surprise snack for someone in your family. How about a spinach snake, an orange flower – your grown up can help you think of something new to make.

    Thursday: What are your favourite foods to eat at snack time? What things do you not like eating?

    Friday: Count out three breadsticks for everyone. Line them up in a row of 3.Then arrange them to make a shape or alphabet letter.
    Monday: Watch Anansi and the Two Dinners.

    Tuesday: Party food list for Anansi, ask your grown up to write a party list, draw the things ​you could have - what did Anansi have in the Two Dinners story?

    Wednesday: Make a Time Poster, draw the things you that you do when you wake up, before lunch time, before dinner time and bedtime.

    Thursday: Learn more about Spiders, look at the different types of spiders and the things they do.

    Friday: Watch Anansi and the Two Dinners again; join in with the story telling. Find something special to wear for dinner today.
    Monday: Make a birthday party and invite all your teddies. What will you need? Maybe cups, plates, spoons... give each teddy a spoon, a cup, a plate - how many candles on your birthday cake will you need? Take a photo and send it to us.

    Tuesday: Find different ways to fold napkins (or paper), what does the shape change? How many different shapes do you have?

    Wednesday: Make party hats-can you twist, fold, and decorate enough party hats so that everyone in your family has one to wear.

    Thursday: Make a party banner. Draw and write on it. You could cut up catalogues or old magazines to add photos of party things to the banner.

    Friday: Wrap up lots of different size presents. What size papers will you need: big or small? Can you cover all of the present with the wrapping paper so you it will be a surprise?
    The children will listen to 'The Turtle Went Up The Hill' and 'Pit Pat', which will involve them joining in with some actions!
