The Year 6 pupils are busy each morning with our new school routine. We have split into three groups. The focus for the early morning sessions is maths and English.
Maths work is looking at ordering of numbers. In English the pupils are reading There’s a Boy in the Girls’ Bathroom. Our current work involves writing a diary entry from the perspective of the main character, Bradley.
The pupils have enjoyed their work as part European Language Week. Leeanne’s class has researched Holland. Kate class have learnt all about Italy.
We have held a tasting session to sample some of the well-known foods from each country. Leanne‘s class liked the Strood waffles.
The pupils have also looked at some of the famous people associated with each country. This has included Vincent Van Gough and a study of his famous paintings as part of our art lessons.
Italian and Dutch language are also being learnt by the pupils. We use the greetings at the start and the end of the day to welcome and say farewell to our friends.
Each class member is taking part in the European Week of Language competition. The challenge has been set to create a poster using some of the themes we have learnt about our adopted countries.
