The Year 6 students have shown a great interest in current affairs. Each day we watch the short Newsround update. The class members understand the importance of keeping informed with news developments.
Work is progressing well on a major piece of English learning. This is based around the book There’s a Boy in the Girls’ Bathroom.
Each class member has written a first impressions account of the story. We have explained what we like, dislike and what puzzles us about the story.
We have used the PEE acronym to assist us. This stands for point, evidence and explain.
The class members shared their own analysis of the story using this method. It was interesting to hear different reactions to some of the themes in the book.
Year 6 are also focusing on how we can gain extra marks in our English SATs test. The pupils have completed a comprehension exercise to help with this.
We have a useful display in our classroom which helps us to focus on what makes for an outstanding piece of comprehension.
