The Year 4 pupils are almost ready for their first public ukulele performance. The children were only introduced to this wonderful new instrument back in September. Ukulele teacher Joe is confident that they are now almost ready to showcase their skills.
Our first public performance will be at the Michael Faraday Winter Concert. We are rehearsing the song Next to Me.
Joe helps the pupils each week with some of the cord changes. This involves some tricky finger manoeuvring. One example is changing from A-7 to G7. The class members have practised their finger hovering technique.
A recent addition was the use of the metronome. This is a ticking instrument which speeds up. We used this to help increase the speed of our chord changes.
