The new starters in the Nursery are settling in well. All the children have returned after the Easter break keen to carry on their friendships, and set for a summer term of fun and learning.
We are learning about some of the ideas associated with Earth Day. The children have been looking at books and watching some videos about the rainforest. We have watched a series of short films called Earth Cub. The main learning intention was to think about what a wonderful world we live in.
As part of this topic we have also planted some flowers in the Nursery outdoor area. The children are learning about what we need to do to look after them. We will take it in turns to water them and make sure they have plenty of sunlight.
The children are also continuing with their Makaton signing. They are familiar with the signs for earth and sun.
Elsewhere in the Nursery and we have started to read the book Beegu. This is a story that helps the children to understand more about friendships. One of the key themes is how we can keep everyone safe and how we can make friends feel welcome.
Some Nursery homework was set themed around the Beegu book. It was great to receive some of the designs based on the story that were made with family and friends at home.
Finally class teachers Deanna and Catherine are looking forward to safely meeting the parents and carers outdoors. This is a good opportunity for any parents to ask questions about learning in the Michael Faraday Nursery, and how this can be supported at home.
