Lavender Potions and Room on the Broom in the Nursery

The Nursery children are reading the book Room on the Broom. We have been inspired by the witch character to create our own magic potions.

The children have carefully cut up some lavender plants to put in a big cauldron. Teaching staff have asked the children to describe the smell of the lavenders.

We have also looked at some of the rhyming words in the story. We asked the children to think about what makes a rhyming word special.

Our maths learning in the Michael Faraday Nursery has involved using the numicon resources. These help us with our counting skills, as well as recognising different shapes.

We have also had plenty of fun experimenting with the Play-Doh. We have asked the children to describe what it feels like. We found that it could be a little sticky to handle. We added some flower to see how that could make it easier to use.
