Michael Faraday has a range of policies in place, which help to determine the ways in which the school deals with various issues. Their purpose is to try and ensure that everything is done fairly and that school life runs as smoothly and predictably as possible for everyone involved in the school, especially our children.
When writing and agreeing policies, the school and Governing Body carefully consider and analyse the impact of the policy on equality and the possible implications for pupils and/or staff with protected characteristics. As part our commitment to meet the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) requirement, the Governing Body and the school have due regard to the need to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations.
We aim to develop a culture of inclusion and diversity in which all those connected to the school feel proud of their identity and are able to participate fully in school life. We will tackle discrimination by the positive promotion of equality, challenging bullying and stereotypes and creating an environment which champions respect for all. At Michael Faraday, we believe that diversity is a strength, which should be respected and celebrated by all those who learn, teach and visit here.
At Michael Faraday, we are committed to the Southwark Stands Together pledge, to foster an anti-racist community:
We are committed to providing our pupils with a broad, balanced, enriched and inspiring curriculum, which is accessible to all. It is our ambition to develop the potential of all individuals to prepare them for their roles as adult members of our society. We understand the need to support our community through this change and our challenge is to educate all stakeholders in their social and legal responsibility to respect others without judgement.
